Submissions
Tips
How
many times you've submitted material to... wherever...?
Tens..,
Hundreds..? There are a few rules and variables
that apply to any submission,
and you'd better keep 'em in mind. Before that,
remember that your material
can be: Unsolicited, solicited, the recipient may
open it, trash it,
listen/watch/read it or... just anything.
If trashed or not opened, you loose a few bucks
and hope. But when they open
your package, the first impression is important
for involving them into
listening/watching/reading.
So,
the Rules are:
1.
Keep it simple, organized, clear and clean!
2. If there are any submission guidelines - follow
them in the exact order!
3. Even if they don't ask for, start with a brief
presentation letter (Hello, I am...
and I submit ... (reason), which I think is
appropriate ...(why)!
4. Put your contact addresses (all of them) on every
piece of your package!
5. Send your best songs and recordings!
6. Your photo - always! If you wanna send more than
one, make sure it's
one per subject!
7. Where applicable... tell them "I'll follow
up within ... (days)", and do it!
8. If you are not a major, you've got better chances
when submitting to
"smaller" (labels, managers, stations,
sites, venues, magazines etc.)!
9. Send your package via regular mail if not explicitly
asked otherwise!
10. "Thanks"!
1.1. When submitting material to this site, follow
the exact info on this page
Variables:
-
If you know the person reviewing your material, make your
package a little
more personal.
- If they ask for a Ballad or romantic tune, but
your best song is a High Energy,
don't send your best song.
- You'll not get famous or rich because of somebody
else. But you could -
because of you! Let them work for you!
- Nothing is free!? Usually you get what you pay
for!
- Keep it simple and Have
a Lot of Luck!
